Committee Descriptions

Finance Committee – 2 Year Term (Formerly the Contingency Fund Committee) This committee is charged with the overall management of the region’s contingency fund; ensures required operating balances are met; reviews and decides additional operating balances; determines two year plan for regional and endowed scholarships; determines availability and criteria for local event funding requests; and any additional tasks as needed to ensure the long-term viability of the Region 1 Contingency Fund.

Small Programs Committee – 2 Year Term. This committee is charged with developing outreach and programming for small programs within our Region 1. The major focus of programming is developing educational session at the Region 1 Conference and hosting virtual round table conference calls throughout the year. Outreach to institutions which classify as a small programs will be supported by the State Directors and Regional Newsletters.

Student Development Committee – 2 Year Term. This committee is charged with developing outreach and programming for students within Region 1. This committee works to support, provide guidance, and enhance the work of the Region 1 Student Leader and State Student Leaders. The major focus of programming is assisting in the development of the Student-Lead on at the Region 1 Conference and hosting virtual round table conference calls throughout the year.

Scholarship Committee – 2 Year Term. This committee is charged with reviewing and allocating scholarships funded by the Region 1 Contingency Fund. This committee is charged with reviewing and revising scholarship criteria; assisting with the marketing of scholarship processes and announcements; and submitting application data to the Finance Committee to justify scholarship pools each year.

Book Club Committee – 1 Year Term. This committee is charged with selecting a book which will impact our members; leading virtual round table discussions throughout the year; and if possible hosting a discussion at the Region 1 Conference.

Director-Level Development Committee – 2 Year Term. This newly formed, pilot committee will be charged with creating and facilitating virtual round table discussions for campus recreation directors within our region.

Future Region 1 Conference Think Tank – 1 Year Term. This newly formed committee will be charged with collecting and assessing data on the future issues facing the Region 1 Conference, including how enrollment challenges at our institutions will affect professional development budgets. Based on their findings, this committee will be charged with providing recommendations to assist in the planning and success of future conferences.
