Welcome back to another school year filled with excitement… and roughly 10,000 things to do in the span of seven days! We know you are putting in the time and effort to make the beginning of the year a good one. Sometimes, though, you are so focused, you forget to read up on what is happening around you, and the DUE DATES of those things.

Region 1 Conference Scholarships
They are up and ready for you to apply! We have two scholarships for students, two scholarships for professionals. The application has some essay questions, which should take about 15-20 minutes to complete. You don’t have to be a NIRSA member to apply, but you will need to purchase a membership if you are a recipient. Applications close SEPTEMBER 16th, winners to be announced by September 20th.

Region 1 Conference Registration & Hotel Rooms
Speaking of the Region 1 Conference… the EARLY BIRD deadline is less than a month away. The last day of early bird pricing and hotel room conference pricing is SEPTEMBER 23. Registration prices will increase beginning September 24th, and unpurchased rooms in the block will return to inventory.

WE WANT YOU… for Region 1 Representative!
It’s an election year, we know. But we are looking for our next Region 1 Representative for the NIRSA Member Network! Are you interested in serving the region and helping get the word out about NIRSA? Are you looking to bring energy and ideas to the position and region? Then this might be your time to answer the call and submit your interest! The initial interest form is due SEPTEMBER 19.

The Region 1 Flag Football Officials Workshop and Pre-Season Tournament!
Fall is around the corner, and so is flag football in the NIRSA Championship Series! Are you looking to get a leg up on your flag football knowledge for your campus or the Championship Series? Are you looking for a chance to get some pre-season practice as a team? Would you like to help with the tournament and be a part of student/professional development?
Check, check, and check.
The R1 FFB Officials Workshop and Pre-Season Tournament is ready for you at Millersville University! The dates for the event are SEPTEMBER 28 and 29. Officials sign-up is $60 and includes a rule book, whistle, shirt, room and meals for Saturday into Sunday. Team sign-up is $75, with the winner of the tournament getting paid entry into a Region 1 NIRSA Champ Series Flag Football Regional. Team space in the tournament is LIMITED, and will have both men’s and women’s games. Volunteers will get hotel accommodations and Sat/Sun meals provided at no cost. The cutoff date for applications will be SEPTEMBER 21.
